Project Story

Architect : FRANS VAN DIJK
Note : In the second half of the nineteenth century, the port of Antwerp became the pivotal point of grain traffic in Belgium. SAMGA's old grain warehouse on America's dock in Antwerp is a silent witness to this rich industrial past. In 1895, SAMGA (Société Anonyme des Magasins à Grains d'Anvers), a public limited company of more than 100 traders and brokers, had this grain warehouse built by the Antwerp architect Frans van Dijk. It served as a warehouse for grain storage and aeration. It is the oldest existing grain silo in the port of Antwerp and contains unique machines.
