Project Story

Architect : GOEDEFROO+GOEDEFROO
Note : Belgian producer of exclusive hand-made design rugs CASALIS, has settled down in their new offices and showroom at the Kortrijk Bossuit canal.  This unique industrial building from the start of the 20th century has been entirely renovated with a successful harmony between old & new. Many original features, such as the bare brick walls and the original floor, have been maintained which gives a special atmosphere ideal for exclusive events and photoshoots: well worth a visit!
The concept for the interior-&exterior lighting design contained three focus points, namely:
-the use of flexible and energy efficient lighting systems;
-an emphasis on the contrasts between the old industrial ‘rough’ architecture with the modern ‘smooth’ interior design;
-enhancing the corporate identity of the label CASALIS ‘high quality design’.
The optimilization of the daylight via the original roof structure provides general diffuse lighting during daytime. The artificial lighting via track and suspensions provides accent lighting on the displays and functional lighting in the offices. Furthermore maintenance and emergency lighting scenes are provided in the lighting control system.
